Journalist/author Jim Sterba to discuss “Wildlife in a Changing Environment” on April 1 -- event kicks off series on wildlife management hosted by members of the regional Environmental Monitoring and Management Alliance (EMMA)

In his 2012 book Nature Wars, former New York Times and Wall Street Journal reporter Jim Sterba examined how twentieth century wildlife conservation efforts in the U.S. intersected with development sprawl to create unforeseen environmental problems and controversies.


Screening of film about one man’s quest to document climate change; Chasing Ice to be shown February 12, 2014

This documentary is the story of one man's mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Photographer James Balog conceived of the Extreme Ice Project to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Balog set up time-lapse camera equipment across the Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers, capturing ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.
